A visit to Marienbad and Karlsbad c. 1912
These photos were all inside the “Karlsbad” box – some labelled with “MB” and some labelled “K”.
Established in 1808, Marienbad (now Marianske Lazne) was one of the richest and finest of the grand resorts of the day. Surrounded by lush forest, and with at least 60 cold-water springs, it was a spa resort which attracted the likes of kings and emperors, industrialists, surgeons, poets and revolutionaries, before its descent in the first world war.
This box also includes a walk around Karlsbad (now Karlovy Vary) c 1912
